Dr. Tridibesh Mukherjee, after his retirement from his last executive position, Director of Integration and Technology of Tata Steel Group, in 2009, has been a non-executive Independent director of many Indian companies.

Dr. Mukherjee is an expert in the field of Ferrous Metallurgy his areas of interest cover operational research, theory of constraints, technology, innovation, bench marking, and aspiration. While in Tata Steel, he worked closely with a number of technology (Thyssen, Nippon Steel) and management (MCKinsey’s Booz allen and Hamilton, Goldratt etc) consultants. He was a member of the three member team that got Tata Steel Franz Edelman award, at Baston in 1994, from the Operational Research Society of America.

Dr. Mukherjee initially worked with British Steel Corporation at Sheffield and later, in 1971, joined Tata Steel Ltd at Jamshedpur, where je he occupied various many key positions. He was Dy. Managing Director (Steel) of Tata Steel Ltd and then, in 2007, after the takeover of Corus, he moved to London as Director (Integration and Technology) of Tata Steel group.

Dr. Mukherjee was chairman of several reputed companies like Tata Metaliks Ltd. Jamipol, m-junction and Hooghly Met Coke and Power Ltd. He was also on the board of Tata Chemicals Ltd. Tata Yodogawa, Tata Refractories and Timken India etc. He joined the board of Nat Steel Singapore and Millennium Steel Thailand (now Tata Steel Thailand), when these companies were taken over by Tata Steel.

Dr. Mukherjee is currently on the board of reputed public limited manufacturing companies like Bharat Forge Ltd, TIL Indian Limited, IFB Industries Ltd, Rane (Madras)Ltd. Tata Advanced Materials Limited. He is also on the board of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation and TIPL India Ltd.

Mr. Biplab Ghosh did his graduation in Electronics & Communication Engineering and completed masters in Power Electronics. He joined R&D division of Tata Steel in 1970 as research engineer. Superannuated in 2004 from Tata steel. On retiring from Tata Steel, he continued with Tata group of companies on contract till 2009.

In 2010, along with two ex-Tata Steel executives incorporated a technical consultancy company M/s Technoplus Consultants Pvt Ltd, a MSME unit with registered office at Jamshedpur. Mr Ghosh presently is with the company as Managing Director.

He has with him over four decades of experience in steel, power and allied industries. He has been driving the process controls & instrumentation activities in Tata Steel till 2000 as Senior Divisional Manager (E&I).

He has been associated with the installation of new Coke making units (8 & 9 batteries) in Tata steel. He took up development of modern system like “oven positioning” for improved PRI, process upgrades in old batteries to improve coke quality.

He led the team ‘Electronics & Instrumentation’ department of engineers, technicians created to support upkeep, upgrade & development projects for process in plant at Jamshedpur, mines & collieries of Tata steel. This department had all modern facilities to handle components like sensitive cards, processors & microelectronics-based modules with testing & developing support.

Mr Ghosh also has experience of working with engineering projects. He has been associated with two phases of modernization programs of Tata steel, during 1980-90.

He visited steel plants in abroad for getting exposure in various countries in Europe, in US, China, Japan & had good exposure of technology.

On his retirement from Tata steel in 2004, he was appointed by the company as technical consultant for the HR coke unit with power plant in Haldia, West Bengal. This plant, after commissioning in 2007 is doing well in producing 1.6 MTPA good quality blast furnace coke & 120 MW Power.

Mr Ghosh was an active member of Total Quality Management group of the company and played an effective role to implement quality systems in maintenance group.

He had opportunity to work with the reputed consultants like M/s Dasturco, TCE and many others during his tenure in Tata steel.

Mr. Narayan, electrical engineering graduate, had headed Electrical Power Department in Tata Steel and had been instrumental in re-organising the Integrated Electrical Maintenance of the company.

He has 38 years of working experience in Tata Steel at various positions before his retirement. The areas of expertise are electrical maintenance of large power system including repairs of large electrical machines, project management during first phase of modernization of Tata Steel during 1981-1985, involved in installation & commissioning of coke oven batteries no. 5 & 6, instrumental in putting up new pump house of 30 MGD for supplying water to Tata Steel’s new plant. Job included construction of pump house, water clarifiers and their electrical & chemical installation.

He was the recipients of many quality awards at corporate level in Tata Steel. The most prestigious award received by Mr.Narayan was the highest innovation award of Tata Steel. He also distinguished himself by presenting a paper in IEEE conference held at BHU, Varanasi related to the condition monitoring of electrical system and was awarded for the best paper presentation award in this regard.

He brings in expertise in the area of High Voltage Engineering and power generation and distribution. His value addition in terms of equipment selection and in putting up most economic project, both in terms of project cost as well as its maintainability, is an asset to the team.
